We produce also element houses for bigger developments starting from 5 houses. Elements are produced in a controlled indoor climate and our production process is standardised to guarantee a top-quality with lower expenses. To produce an element house takes about 5-10 days depending of the size of the house.
Prefabricated Timber Frame Element Houses
Timber frame structures are characterized by lightweigth components packed with lots of insulation, offering the highest Energy saving performances per kg of material used in construction.
Prefab timber frame houses are high quality products – durable, comfortable and custom made to statisfy our Customer’s needs.
Not only prefab wooden houses are more Energy efficient than other houses of similar size, but they come also with a cheaper price. The cheaper price is result of several factors that play in favor of the economy of a prefab timber frame house:
1) engineering design is optimised and nothing is left to chance. There are no surprises during factory production as everything is decided and organised beforehand with great detail.
2) all materials come from trusted sources and the purchasing pipeline follows always the same rules and, for dozens of units each year, all materials comes to the same place: our factory. All materials have proper certificates and meet our very high Quality requirements.
3) procedures and operations at the factory are repetitive and highly optimised. This way we can save a great deal of time and money, of course.
As Producer of wooden houses, we not only manufacture a superior Product, but we also Design it and offer Consultation Service to our Customers throughout the whole processes. Our goal is to provide comfortable and Energy saving buildings and to help reducing the carbon footprint.
Energy Performance
Among all the things a good building must do, saving Energy is one of the most important. Today is not possible to build a house without considering how much Energy Is needed to warm it during the winter times and to live comfortably.
CompactLiving product is engineered to ensure the lowest possible Energy consumption.
As a matter of fact, new European Directives are very strict on Energy performances, but not everybody is ready to follow.
Directive 2010/31/EU (EPBD recast) Article 9 requires that “Member States shall ensure that by 31 December 2020 all new buildings are nearly zero-energy buildings; and after 31 December 2018, new buildings occupied and owned by public authorities are nearly zero-energy buildings”. Member States shall furthermore “draw up national plans for increasing the number of nearly zero-energy buildings” and “following the leading example of the public sector, develop policies and take measures such as the setting of targets in order to stimulate the transformation of buildings that are refurbished into nearly zero-energy buildings”.
A nearly zero-energy building is defined in Article 2 of the EPBD as “a building that has a very high energy performance. The nearly zero or very low amount of energy required should be covered to a very significant extent by energy from renewable sources, including energy from renewable sources produced on-site or nearby”.
So, this will be the future – buildings will be running on a very small amount of Energy consumption. For us at CompactLiving, this is the present day and our Products are already in line with the requirements set for year 2020.
On other words, the CompactLiving houses that our Customers are buying today will not loose their value, when higher requirements will come in force. Think about it. CompactLiving is a step ahead of building requirements.
Nordic or Mediterranean
In 10 years of activity we have seen many projects. In order to satisfy our Customer’s expectations we have developed a different solutions for different climates, both from aesthetic and comfort point of view. Today we are able to provide the right solution to build a wooden (timber framed) element houses in nearly any location in Europe.
CompactLiving standard production offers cladded external walls (mainly for Nordic climate) and plastered external walls (mainly for Mediterranean climate). While the core of the wall remains the same, the outer layers are optimised for the prevalent climate in the Country of destination.
Cold climates require outstanding insulation and highly performing windows with large glazed areas, warm climates are all a different story and buildings to be built there shall have different characteristics.
While it is in general a good principle to keep a generous amount of insulation in the building envelope, in warm climates becomes important to consider the thermal inertia of the building more than its absolute energy emission. Failure to do so will quickly lead to overheating in summer.
This is one reason why brick/concrete structures are preferred in warm climates. However, with todays technology and with our knowhow, we are able to propose timber framed solutions with performances similar to brick/concrete with a fraction of the weight.
